There really is no better time to get into beer. Today, there are a huge number of breweries open, not just in Scotland but the rest of the UK and around the world. They're producing a huge multitude of styles, and the quality is just climbing and climbing. Here at the shop, we're very proud of our beer selection; we've carefully curated the range to offer the best beers we can. We offer over 400 beers from the UK, Mainland Europe and US craft brewers, as well as a few other places. While we are proud of our international range we have a particularly comprehensive range of local brewers - Scotland has some serious pedigree when it comes to beer. To see what we have in stock click on the beer list link below, visit us in store, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook!

We can deliver beer to anywhere mainland UK. For orders over £70, delivery is free. For orders under £70, there is a £10 courier fee. We use a "next working day" courier. We will attempt to keep our online list updated however stock levels will change, so, to avoid disappointment, place your order as soon as you can.

We also host a free beer tasting each Saturday inside the shop from 2 to 6pm.

We always try to stock beer to suit all our customers' preferences and in doing so you should be able to find a range of Gluten Free, Vegan, Organic and Non Alcoholic beers in our shop. Please ask us in store to help you find these beers on our shelves.

The world of good beer is constantly changing and evolving, often at a scarily quick rate. In a world packed full of variety, how do you begin to find your way through all of it? That's where we come in. Our worryingly knowledgeable resident beer geeks are always more than happy to recommend their old favourites and exciting new arrivals. We regularly feature ranges from breweries that consistently impress us such as Tempest, Siren, Buxton, Thornbridge, Fyne Ales, Anchor, Brooklyn and De Molen, as well as seeking out newer breweries and their less-well known wares. Our stock is always changing, so a good way to keep up is to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates on new arrivals.  Still, we do think the best way to keep up with stock changes is to come and visit us in store...

Planning the wine is an important part of your day. And for many, buying in such large quantities is an overwhelming decision but it doesn't have to be. We'd like to help make this a decision that is simple, rewarding and above all enjoyable.

The most important thing is that you and your partner are able to choose wines that you both enjoy and that you can get them at a good price. Therefore it is worth considering the option of corkage when hiring a venue. With this option, through us you'll be able to improve on quality and save money along the way.

You're in good hands! With us, you'll be able to choose from our extensive selection of wine and you will have the support of our friendly and experienced team. Who will help you choose wines to suit your tastes, menu and budget.  Better yet, we offer a free tasting to all of our customers to ensure that you and your partner are absolutely happy before ordering.

And for any craft beer fans, we have a great selection of craft beer from all over the world to choose from too if you wanted to explore this option.

1.  Free tastings -  we'd be happy to organise a free tasting for you. This tasting will be hosted by one of our experts who will be able to offer advice and answer all of your questions.

2. Free delivery - we can delivery free of charge to anywhere in mainland UK within 3 working days

3. 10% off all orders

4. Refund any left over products - order too much? We will buy back any bottles that are in a resaleable condition

5. Free glass hire - this service is completely free. We'll even deliver and collect free of charge - so long as they're in the same state you received them in

6. Fast local delivery/pick-up - if you're local we can promise delivery and collection within one working day

7. Our interesting and exclusive range of wine - most of our selection is from small, reputable producers that you can't find anywhere else in Scotland. We are one of the biggest importers of champagne and cava in Scotland which reflects in our very competitive prices.

We have catered to many events in the past with a proven track record for delivering an excellent service.

Our "other half" is the (relatively) legendary Great Grog Warehouse, lurking down in the depths of Leith. All of the wine in the warehouse is available in the shop too.

Great Grog Bottle Shop is an award winning wine merchant based in Edinburgh run by John, Tom and (yes) Jerry, specialising in the sale of craft beer and wine. First and foremost, we simply love what we sell, and we're here to make sure you find something you'll love too.

Great Grog started in 1999 and the shop opened in 2005. We try to keep our wine and beer ranges as interesting and varied as possible - we wouldn't have it any other way. And as we love a good dram of whisky or the odd dash of gin from time to time, you'll find a rather lovely selection of single malts, gin and a variety of other spirits in store too.

Our "other half" is the (relatively) legendary Great Grog Warehouse, lurking down in the depths of Leith. All of the wine in the warehouse is available in the shop too: if you'd like to order online, the warehouse's website is here.

Our beer selection is comprehensive: at the last count (july 2017) we had over 420 different beers. Hand-picked by our resident beer geek(s), we have everything from easy-drinking pale ales, to gigantic barrel-aged stouts and barleywines. It's a global affair, too: beers from Belgium, Germany, USA, Netherlands, New Zealand and elsewhere grace our shelves as well as an extensive collection from British  shores (including an unbeatable selection from Scotland). There really is something for everyone!

Our John, Tom and (yes) Jerry, really know their stuff (they say "practice makes perfect", after all...) and are always happy to give a recommendation or advice. If you haven’t been before, come and check us out, or find us on Twitter and Facebook!
